Sweet Almond Oil
Cruz Hemp Sweet Almond Oil
Cruz Hemp uses this valuable oil as a base in our skincare products for its ability to soften the skin and retain moisture, without clogging pores. Almond oil is rich in Vitamin E and A and when formulated with our therapeutic essential oils, our products proved to be transformative.
Almond trees date as far back as 10,000 years ago. However, the exact geographic history of Almonds is a mystery. One theory is that Almonds originated in the middle east and central Asia. From a western perspective, explorers ate Almonds while traveling the “Silk Road” between Asia and the Mediterranean. Shortly thereafter, Almonds began to flourish in the Mediterranean especially in Spain and Italy.
Almonds made it to the United States in the early 1700s, brought over to California from Spain. Today, California’s Almond production dominates the world and has doubled in the past 20 years. Over 90 nations import California Almonds, making up 70 percent of production worldwide. Belonging to the same plant family as the rose, plum, cherry, and peach, Almonds thrive in warm dry climates making California a hotspot for Almond production. There are two types of Almond trees. One produces Sweet Almonds and blooms small white blossoms. The other produces bitter Almonds and has pink flowers reminiscent of the flower and fruit plants in its genetics.
Sweet Almond is a prominent carrier oil for cosmetics and has many beneficial uses in skin and hair care. Almond oil alone can be used as a mild cleanser to gently remove makeup and is excellent for hydrating skin, reducing inflammation, and even soothing itchy skin. Almond oil works wonders, keeping your skin soft and moisturized in cold weather. Additionally, due to its powerful antifungal properties, it can be rubbed on your feet to prevent athlete’s foot and other fungal infections like ringworm.
Almond oil’s healing properties make it a popular ingredient amongst many skincare products and alternative medicine topicals. Further, our studies into Chinese and Ayurvedic health practices have taught us that Sweet Almond oil is beneficial for treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The antibacterial properties, and Vitamin A profile, of Almond oil can also be effective for treating acne. With the added value of its rich Vitamin E profile, Almond oil promotes a youthful complexion, helps to heal sun-damaged skin, and helps diminish dark circles.
Common Sweet Almond Oil Uses
The Sweet Almond oil used in Cruz Hemp’s products is expeller pressed from raw Almond kernels. After the Almonds are combed from the trees, they are ground down and pressed to extract their oils. This process thoroughly extracts the Almond’s oils, keeping the protective, nourishing properties intact. Our Almond oil is sent through a purification process before the oil will meet the high standards for our skincare formulas.
